KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Bernama) -- The 6th International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) 2024, a cornerstone event for sustainable energy dialogue and innovation, is set to be held on Aug 20-21, 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Themed “Accelerating Energy Transition Through Innovation”, the summit will be organised by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia, hosted by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), and managed by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to officiate the summit, which has been dubbed as a premier, not-to-be-missed event in the sustainable energy arena.

The event is expected to draw strong participation from the region and beyond, based on last year's successful performance.

SEDA Malaysia chief executive officer and Organising Chair of ISES 2024, Datuk Hamzah Hussin said the government agency is at the forefront of shaping the nation's energy future.

He said the summit will be instrumental in driving Malaysia towards its goal of 70 per cent renewable energy capacity mix by 2050.

“We welcome partners to showcase their commitment to sustainable practices and innovation, contributing to global leadership in the sustainable energy sector,” he said in a statement today.

ISES 2024 will include Plenary Sessions and Deep Dive Workshops led by distinguished energy experts and leaders.

The sessions will explore various topics, including green mobility, grid modernisation, and the integration of environmental, social and corporate governance principles into investment and financing strategies.

According to SEDA, the event underscores the importance of developing new energy technologies and nurturing young talent to ensure a robust future for the energy sector.

A dynamic exhibition space will showcase the latest sustainable energy solutions, with trade programmes and business matching sessions designed to stimulate collaboration and strategic partnerships, it said.

Networking opportunities will provide a forum for energy leaders and stakeholders to exchange ideas and forge valuable connections, reinforcing the summit's role as a catalyst for sustainable energy action and partnership.

Malaysia’s efforts have been recognised internationally, with 12 of the country’s projects winning the ASEAN Energy Awards in 2023 for the adoption of sustainable energy practices.
